Surreal Attitude - DM's latest Collaboration
Creativity and resilience are stitched into the DNA of Dr. Martens - their boots have been adopted for decades by artists and individuals who champion underrepresented voices and fight for progress. The latest collection with Tate imbues Doc's classic 1460 boot with the attitude of provocative British surrealist and occultist Ithell Colquhoun.
UNEARTHING THOSE FORGOTTEN
Ithell Colquhoun was a provocative artist who refused to conform or compromise. Her work is deeply grounded in the occult and nature - and frequently explores sex and gender. Often overlooked alongside the towering male figures of Surrealism, the collection with Tate celebrates her work. The boots provide a new canvas for two of her most expressive works: 'Volcanic Flare' and 'Example of Decalcomania Technique' © Tate.

The collaboration with Tate imbues DM's classic 1460 boot with the attitude of provocative British surrealist and occultist Ithell Colquhoun.
The boot is made with Backhand leather which provides a new canvas for Colquhoun's 'Volcanic Flare' defined by vibrant orange and green shades that reflect the fluidity of the earth itself © Tate. The sole is grooved and secured with our signature yellow welt stitching, and the top of the boot is tagged with our black and yellow heel loop.
1460 TATE DECALCOMANIA LEATHER BOOTS £189
The boot is made with Backhand leather, providing a new canvas for Colquhoun's 'Example of Decalcomania Technique', which is achieved by randomly applying paint to paper or canvas, pressing another sheet of paper or canvas over the top, and revealing images when peeled apart © Tate. The sole is grooved and secured with our signature yellow welt stitching, and the top of the boot is tagged with our black and yellow heel loop.

Made from Backhand + Kiev - a full-grain leather that's soft to the touch paired with a hardwearing, rigid leather with a smooth surface and slight sheen.
