Elusive artist James McQueen continues to evolve his bold, book-based designs with the release of his second lenticular collection. Double Take, a confident evolution of James McQueen's lenticular journey, the artist embraces once again the transformative nature of the medium, creating artworks that shift and reveal themselves depending on the viewer's angle.

With his candid, provocative and poignant words on modern life and love, he speaks a universal language that transcends generations, borders and culture; the relatability of McQueen's phrases allows the viewer to reflect on their own personal stories, leaving room for the viewer to use their imagination and make their own connections with the artworks. Weaving layered storytelling through his richly painted surfaces, the lenticular format allows him to hold more than one thematic idea within a single artwork, past and present, sincerity and satire, confidence and contradiction.

Blurring the line between image and interaction, the artworks offer layered narratives within a single frame - the result is tactile, immersive and unmistakably McQueen.

Using a specialist lens system to create the optical transformation, each lenticular is produced using the highest quality materials. Every piece is individually digitally printed to ensure a precise multi-frame transition. Combined with the premium extruded lens surface, this guarantees a museum-quality fine art lenticular with exceptional clarity, depth and fluidity. The layering is both physical and symbolic, humour revealing honesty, surface giving way to subtext.

As McQueen explains: 'The exposure of these layers represents the history and journey of the artwork, just as a used book will have its own story.'

McQueen's work carries the unmistakable influence of pop and street art, and like the pioneering figures of those movements, he continues to challenge expectations of contemporary art. His deliberately chosen titles subtly suggest narratives, leaving space for the viewer to interpret and form their own connection.

These works are hand-signed lenticular panels on acrylic limited editions and are available singly or in a set of four.
