Pick and Mix - Sarah Graham at Castle Galleries
Step into an enchanting world of vibrant candy colour this weekend and meet contemporary photorealist Sarah Graham, at Castle Galleries, The Exchange, Nottingham on Saturday 27th March, 1-4pm. This is a fantastic opportunity to chat with international artist, Sarah, about the inspirations behind her stunning new collection of original and limited edition pieces, whilst enjoying a glass of bubbly and indulging in hand made sweets from Sugacane. A self confessed ‘big kid at heart' with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from De Montfort University, Leicester, sweet success has certainly followed, with Sarah's striking pieces selling all over the world, snapped up by a wide range of collectors, including a-list film stars.
"I am entirely motivated by colour, and although I enjoy photography, painting is my first love", Sarah explains. "I may take as many as 200 photos of a subject before I'm happy with one. I then begin the painting process by translating the image onto canvas by lightly sketching it. I do not want the painting to look overly photo real. It is important to me that in my paintings you can see it has been hand crafted."
Sarah's vast array of subjects, range from multi-coloured sweets to bright gleaming marbles, and cheerful summer camper vans, and in the words of the artist herself......"There's one reason I paint these subjects, and it's quite simply that they are fun and put a smile on my face!"
